Amaroo Visit Year 2 and Year 2/3
Our day started off with an exciting bus ride to ‘Amaroo’.  On arrival, the children were introduced to a presentation on “Minibeasts” which lead into our topic ‘What’s the Bush About?’  We then separated into our two groups we started our day by learning about nocturnal Australian animals.  Mr McKenzie then had the children make their own Australian animals out of clay.  We all trekked out into the bush and had an adventurous walk, looking at fungi, trees, skeleton remains, snake skin, possum tails, huge ant nests and other interesting objects.  Taylah spotted and quickly pointed out the koala perched up the top of a tree.  Mr McKenzie said this was first koala they have seen in their grounds for 9 years.  The day ended on a high, with all the children coming together and sharing their learning experiences with each other.
