Laser Skirmish

17/07/2017
From Deportment to Camouflage!
Last term the Year 6 students from Bunker’s Hill State School participated in leadership programs organised by Chappy Kate.
The “Bella Girl” program is a course for girls 11-16 years old and seeks to challenge, inspire and equip girls with life principles. The program aims to equip them with tools that will build their self-esteem and to have discussions that will encourage personal development and enrichment.
The A2B course developed for the boys concentrated on positive interactions with peers and preparation for high school, targeting the core values of:  Diversity, Acceptance, Trust, Responsibility, Teamwork, Forgiveness and Encouragement.
It is an action-based course, designed to be active and fun while building skills for working together productively as a team.
To celebrate the end of the courses all the year 6 students invited their mothers to a special dinner and spent some quality time talking and dining with each other.  The fathers didn’t miss out, as they got to compete in a night time game of laser skirmish to practise their teamwork skills.  The students claimed victory over the dads!
Many thanks to Chappy Kate for organising these courses and to Peter Joyce and Sue Baker for volunteering their time to help run the programs.
