Book Week "Escape to Everywhere"

28/08/2017
“Escape to Everywhere” was the book week theme this year and Bunker’s Hill State School celebrated with a dress up parade and book swap.
Many wonderful and inspiring costumes were the highlight of the dress up parade.  Students and staff all dressed up and got into the spirit of book week.  Reading is valued at Bunker’s Hill with everyone in the school reading silently for 20 minutes each day after lunch.  Awards are also given to those students who complete 100, 150 and 200 nights’ home reading.   When students reach 250 nights home reading, they are added to the “Wall of Fame” in the library.
A fun afternoon tea and book swap was organised by our librarian Mrs Briskey.  All the students who attended got to swap books, make bookmarks and have a yummy afternoon tea.
As the famous author, Dr Seuss, says:
“The more that you read, the more things you will know.
The more you learn, the more places you’ll go!"
